Sweet baby Jesus, we thank you for blessing Will Ferrell and Adam McKay with the talent to create a NASCAR comedy as hilarious as Talladega Nights. The so-called "Ballad of Ricky Bobby" is hardly flawless in fact it's not always firing on all cylinders but with comedy star Ferrell and director McKay still hot from the success of their previous comedy hit Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, most of this 108-minute spoof of oval-track racing is so knee-slappin' funny that you can't help but surrender to the stupidity.

Obviously, Ferrell's the shining star, and his portrayal of lead-footed pit-crew-member-turned-#1 NASCAR champion Ricky "I Wanna Go Fast" Bobby (how can you not love that name?) is spot-on perfect, righteously spoofing the entirety of NASCAR culture without insulting its oft-ridiculed roots in redneck bootlegging of a bygone era. You could even argue that Talladega Nights is truer to NASCAR than Tom Cruise's Days of Thunder, and it's certainly more entertaining, especially when you add John C. Reilly as Ricky's life-long pal, teammate, and eventual rival Cal Naughton, Jr. (together they're nicknamed "Shake 'n Bake"), and Sacha Baron Cohen (from Da Ali G Show and Borat) as gay French "Formula Un" driver-turned NASCAR rival Jean Girrard, to a stellar cast including Molly Shannon, Greg Germann, Amy Adams and Michael Clarke Duncan.

Sure, it's mostly a showcase for Ferrell's loud, over-the-top antics and nonsensical non sequiturs (like cameo appearances by Elvis Costello and Mos Def), but with Ferrell behind the wheel, Talladega Nights rolls into victory lane with fuel to spare, and there's one final bit of comedy (with a tip of the hat to William Faulkner) for those who sit through the credits. --Jeff Shannon

Customer Review: This flic needs some juice!

Should have known from all the hype with the commercials at the time this came out that it wasn't a strong production. Unrated? Suitable for anyone 5 years and up if you'd ask me. Ferrell has his comedic moments, sure, he's a great actor. This is more of a dramatic comedy (you know just as well as I do that it's really hard to combine drama and comedy) and the director just doesn't get the job done. Cohen could have been a much stronger, more dramatic character (no pun intended here); I wish they would have cast someone who could pull it off in the role of the arch nemesis. Character development, Ricky's motivations, it's just not as well developed as it should have been to compensate for the lack of comedic tone. Ferrell actually does a commendable job in the dramatic moments - there are many for sure - and I give him credit for that. But after his father puts him back on track for Nascar glory you'd expect a completely off the charts finish. The script disappoints big time with a weak attempt at being funny one last time and have the characters walk to the finish line of the final, Talladega race (disqualifying them both) and having Ricky's long-time best friend finally win it (even though he crashed his car together with - aren't we all surprised - the rest of the pack. For a classic Will Ferrell, well put together story line I would look elsewhere (just look up Will Ferrell's name and take your pick).

Customer Review: Surprisingly funny and even good natured.

I thought this would either be a "oh laugh at the retarded race car drivers" movie, or worse a Larry the Cable Guy exercise in xenophobia and fart jokes, but it's surprisingly funny with Will Ferrell's Ricky Bobby going through all the ups and downs of the tragic hero (with the final up of the emerging superhero - we are America after all). And Sacha Baron Cohen was brilliant in not so much parodying the French but American attitudes toward the French.

But sociopolitical subtext takes a backseat to the fact that everyone in this thing is just so weird and they play it straight enough that it comes out. You've got Gary Cole as the drunken father trying to motivate his son with a live cougar. You've got Sacha Baron Cohen proclaiming that the French invented democracy, existentialism and oral sex. Then later he's waxing poetic about training komodo dragons to perform Hamlet, and he does it so well. There's of course John C. Reilly who FINALLY got his own vehicle with Walk Hard and Will Ferrell holds it all together. Oh and the one race car technician reading Are You There God? It's Me Margaret to Ricky Bobby while he's in a coma - Hilarious.

I had pretty much written off all the absurdist comedies including Will Ferrell's after the Scary Movie franchises wouldn't get off my television. But thankfully I bought this one for cheap and gave it a chance. It's a fun movie. Plain and simple.

I found most of the information useful and while nothing made me jump out of my seat, I felt like I got a boost in my game. I gave it 5 stars because I dont have much of a baseline for holdem instructional dvds abd I found it very informative. I bought it over a week ago and watched it twice.

Annie kind of hesitates sometimes or her timing is a tiny bit off, but I am glad she is a poker expert and not an actor(but then shouldnt a great poker player be a great actress!?), so thats not an issue for me. I skipped right past her beginners video and had no trouble keeping up with this one.

I have been playing holdem online about 40 hours a week for 4 months, just so whoever is reading this review knows where im coming from.

This is a great looking "guy toy"! I was hoping to get a lot of use from it and really looked forward to testing it. Well, I've had it now for about two weeks and I really WISH this device would perform all the functions that the script writers at Black & Decker claim for it.

Let's start with the radio so that I can give you some helpful tips. The radio has on/off again static and the volume seems to have a mind of its own. To temporarily eliminate the radio static, just give the unit a "whack" at various locations until you find the sweet spot. The static will then generally stop until you move the unit or turn it off.

The volume adjustment knob on the radio has no tactile feel whatsoever and just spins in either direction with the volume increasing/decreasing at some point. Just like the static, a few whacks on the radio itself will easily adjust the volume for your listening pleasure.

The USB port does work (eventually) but the fit of any USB cable into the port is very sloppy. Here's a tip...If you find the USB port is not working well, simply get some duct-tape and try various "tape-ups" until you see that it's working. Of course, you'll have to remember the exact configuration or start over again next time you need to use the USB port. If you have a camera, you can just take a picture of how it looked when you finally got it to work and then just duplicate the tape-up each time.

The "area light" works great if all you're trying to do is illuminate the inside of an M&M bag to see if just possibly, there could be even a partial piece of an M&M remaining. Otherwise, get a real flashlight or even a candle.

Hey, how about those 120volt and DC plug-ins? Yeah, right. As you salivate, just dying to plug-in something, anything (hey, we're guys, we like to plug-in stuff) and show your buddies that you are truly the master of this device..... good luck! Even though the unit was fully charged, it would shut down with every low wattage device I plugged into it.

Am I starting to get just a little frustrated with this Black & Decker® PS400JRB Electromate® 400 Plus? Gosh Cletus...yuh think????? I called the 800 support number provided by Black & Decker and was transferred to a recording that said the number was no longer in use.

There was a time when the name Black & Decker stood for quality. But it appears that was a long, long time ago.

Took them out of the box just now and, with my hands, moved the pedals as they would normally move. They immediately got stuck in one position. The tension screw in the center will not move, it is also stuck. Plan on sending them back.

My Opinion:

I bought these for my husband who has gotten into serious mountian biking, and likes to bike to and from work when he's not biking at parks. His old Calvin Klien's, and Hanes weren't cutting it. And with all the bike riding and working on his feet chaffing was becoming a serious problem. In fact he'd come home limping at times. Me being the "concerned wife" went on a serious hunt for some undies that will stand up to his lifestyle and ran into Underarmour. The prices made me shiver a little but after reading page after page of great reviews I could not settle for less. When I bought them they were $25, and I got them from the Under Armour site because they were 26 on Amazon. (I know, its only a dollar, but they add up, lol). There is no more chaffing, and despite the tight fit, there is no hugging on the "important areas" that would cause discomfort. The mesh really helps with cooling and keeping everything comfortable. The fit was weird at first to him, but this is a man who is a 36-38 who refuses to wear a pant smaller than a 42. But it soon grew on him and he hasn't had an issue since.

Good Point:

This is for seriously active people. 20 bucks for one boxer breif is a little much to spend on something you're not benefiting from.

However, men in the retail buisness or who find themselves working on their feet a lot this helps calm chaffing between the thighs, and helps stop the sweating from causing any further complications. And hey, you're butt will look good in them.

For those afraid of the tight fit, weigh the options, comfort for a little bit of money, or irritation for none.

I initially bought these for the gym, since cotton seems to bunch and chafe. After receiving them and using them for just that purpose, I was very happy with the fit and comfort level. I have since bought additional pairs, and wear them on a regular basis. I think they're great and are much better than I hoped for.

It has good receive and limited range with the stock antenna. I bought the extension antenna for it and it does a little better. If you want to be heard farther than 1/2 mile you should go with a mag mount type antenna for your car. To be clear, I'm happy with this radio and i expected the range that it gets..

I do have 1 NEGATIVE thing to say about this radio. The weather is hard to pull in on it. When my other weather radios are getting the weather channel clearly, this one just got static. It does get the weather if you're close enough to the tower but, a real weather radio does much better.

I use this when I travel up north on I95. I hooked it up with a portable outside antenna and it worked great. I would suggest this setup for anyone that uses it traveling. You would need to buy an adaptor piece (Cobra HA-BNC BNC to Standard Connector for Hand-Held CB Antennas) that fits the antenna to the top of the scanner. I use the Little Wil antenna with this and it works terrific.
